What is Speak Up South Stormont?

Speak Up South Stormont is a new and interactive online space for South Stormont residents to learn about select Township initiatives, share their feedback and engage with their community. Speak Up South Stormont will be used to gather online feedback from and engage with residents about select projects. While some projects will aim to guide Council and Staff decision-making, others will aim to encourage the community to participate in fun, engaging activities.

How do I sign up?

Sign up to the site by clicking on the 'Sign In' button at the top of the page and selecting 'Register'

• Choose a username and password
• Complete a few quick questions about yourself
• You will receive an email to confirm your email address
• Return to the main page and click the 'Sign In' button.

Note: Your comments will appear under your username and you can comment anonymously through a username of your choice.

Why is the Township using an online public engagement platform?

Public engagement usually involves attending an open house, public meeting or providing a letter to Council. To enhance engagement efforts, Speak Up South Stormont will help reach a broader audience for those who may not have the chance to participate in person, gather more resident feedback and offer the community a new way to provide input on projects.

How do I provide input?

Your input can be submitted using the online options that are relevant to each of the projects that are currently open for consultation. Note: In order to provide input, you must be signed in.

Why do I need to sign up to Speak Up South Stormont to provide input?

We ask you to sign up for the Speak Up South Stormont because:

• It helps to minimize the chance of the consultation being manipulated by someone who leaves many comments in support of a position.
• It allows us to update residents if there are changes about the consultation or project.

Do I have to live in South Stormont to register/engage?

No! We welcome any and all feedback on the exciting projects and initiatives taking place in South Stormont.

Can I use the site anonymously?

Yes, you can use this website anonymously. Even when you register and post comments, your anonymity is protected because you are identified by your chosen screen name.

Bang the Table Pty Ltd hosts this website on behalf of the Township of South Stormont and will not reveal the identities of account holders to the Township. Any communication will always come to you through the platform, so your email address is not shared.

What happens to my input?

All input and ideas are compiled and sent to the relevant project manager to inform the recommendation and/or decision making.

Input provided online is used in collaboration with other in-person consultation activities like open houses, public meetings pop-up events, workshops and other similar activities.

Note: All comments you make through Speak Up South Stormont become public records

Will my questions be monitored and answered in real time?

When the project is live, content and engagement will be monitored on a regular basis. Questions will be answered a timely manner – typically within three (3) business days.

How will I be contacted?

By registering for Speak Up South Stormont, you are consenting to receiving emails about new engagement opportunities, and information and updates about consultations you have participated in or subscribed to.

Is my privacy protected?

Yes! the Township will only use your email address to contact you with updates and to invite you to participate in consultations. Your email address will not be distributed to any third party or used for any other purpose. For more information, see the Privacy Policy

How is the site moderated?

All discussion forums, guest books and questions and answers are moderated 24 hours a day 7 days a week for inappropriate language, comments that disrespect other participants and for comments that are off topic.

All moderation is carried out by Bang the Table for the Township of South Stormont. Moderators do not edit or alter any comments and will only remove comments deemed to be significantly off topic, offensive or malicious, in which case they are removed from the site immediately and the person who posted the comment is advised by email. Please refer the Moderation Policy.
