Consultation has concluded

Safety starts with being prepared and having a plan, and all Ontarians have a part to play in preparing for emergencies. Emergency Preparedness Week (EP Week) is a national event that educates communities across the province about actions people can take to prepare for emergency situations. This annual event has taken place for over 25 years and is traditionally held during the first full week of May.

Emergency Preparedness Week will take place May 7-13, 2023.

Aligning with Ontario’s Provincial Emergency Management Strategy and Action Plan, the province’s theme for 2023 is “A Safe, Practiced and Prepared Ontario.” This theme reflects the unique opportunities and challenges facing Ontario and compliments the national theme released by Public Safety Canada.

Voyent Alert Notification System

Voyent Alert! is a multi-purpose service provided by the Township that will keep residents informed of critical events like floods or boil water advisories as well as day-to-day/ non-emergency notices such as road closures, planned maintenance, watermain breaks and more.

Residents can sign up in under one minute and it is completely free and anonymous. There are four convenient options for receiving alerts. Download the Voyent Alert app on an Apple or Android device, or sign up to receive notifications via text message, email, or voice call. Residents can find out more information and register today at www.southstormont.ca/VoyentAlert. Alternatively, residents visit or contact the Township Office if they need assistance in registering.

Residents will be able to add multiple locations to their profiles for their home, work or family member’s addresses and will only receive notifications that affect those locations. With these targeted alerts, users won’t have to worry about sifting through information that doesn’t pertain to them.
