In recent years, both temporary and permanent signs have become increasingly popular throughout the Township, specifically within its urban settlement areas. While the Township supports the placement of advertising signage within its borders, an increasing number of concerns received from its residents has encouraged staff to explore the implementation of a Comprehensive Signs By-law to help ensure that the placement of signs within the Township is consistent with the overall level of safety and esthetics that is expected by its residents.

By-law no. 58-2002, being a by-law to prohibit and regulate signs and other advertising devices within the Township, was adopted by Council in 2002. This by-law only regulates billboard signs within the Township and does not pertain to other types of signs, including temporary signs, of which are the main subject of our residents’ concerns. Since 2002, the landscape of the Township has changed and staff are of the opinion that a new, comprehensive Signs By-law is appropriate at this time.

We're seeking resident feedback on a proposed comprehensive Signs By-law. Take a few moments and complete the survey below, ask questions or leave comments to ensure your voice is heard in the development of the new by-law.
