What We Heard



The initial Nuisance By-law Survey has concluded.

Overall, the engagement page had a total of 597 visitors, with 278 users taking the time to complete the survey. While the full Nuisance By-law Survey Summary Report can be accessed here, we have listed some of the highlights of what we heard from respondents below.

  • 64.6% of respondents have indicated that they have not experienced noise or nuisances that they would define as excessive/unreasonable/persistent.
  • 68.4% of respondents indicated that they do not believe a problem with noise or nuisances exists in their area.
  • 11.8% of respondents have made a formal complaint to the Township about an issue with noise or nuisances.
    • The three most common noise or nuisances reported directly to the Township were: Firearms (13 respondents), Loud Vehicles, Motorcycles, Dirt Bikes, ATVs, Snowmobiles (8 respondents), Music, Television or Loud Voices at a Residence (6 respondents).
    • 88.2% of respondents who made a formal complaint to the Township were not satisfied with the response taken to resolve.
  • 154 respondents indicated that they have concerns about noise and nuisances that they have NOT reported to the Township.
    • Of these responses, the three most common issues indicated were: Loud Vehicles, Motorcycles, Dirt Bikes, ATVs, Snowmobiles (67 respondents), Barking Dogs (56 respondents), Railway (22 respondents)
  • 68.1% of respondents believe that the existing Nuisance By-law is effective and sufficient.
